Not the first, not even the second, not the third opponent fighting Canelo like they were getting paid to take it easy on him. Even Jacobs stepped off the gas on many rounds. The excuse that "Canelo's counterpunching is too powerful hence opponents hesitate to attack" is fucking dumb.
Every single Canelo fight on recent years has had some kind of controversy to it, but you can keep on sucking his dick and calling people casual.

It's so obvious, open your eyes you'll see it...Canelo's team paid for Kovalev's belt, going into the fight everyone knew this was nothing more than a weak sparring session...During the delay of the fight, Kov looked like he could sleep on the locker room couch then came out and fought like he was sleeping while Buddy Mcgirt was drunk...

The economic incentives for Canelo fixing the Kovalev fight are simply not there. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so. Canelo's contract with DAZN calls for a guaranteed, win or lose, minimum of $35 million per fight. Canelo has $280 million left on that contract, which he would surely lose if he got caught, not to mention prison time and the national disgrace that goes with that. And he most surely would be caught.

A fix of that type would involve many folks and all of them would have to keep the secret. That does not happen. Why run the risk of having one of them leaking the information or extorting millions to keep quiet?

Does Canelo choose his opponents carefully to ensure he reaches his goals? Of course, but so do most elite fighters. But he also trains hard and is an improving elite talent. Ever hear of PBC fighters? They too are carefully matched, but they don't "fix" fights. Choosing opponents carefully and training hard good sense.

Enough with this ****** babble about fixing fights. It makes no sense for a guy who runs the risk of losing more than $280 million dollars if he does so.

The fight wasn't fixed. It's just that Kovalev is damaged goods at 36 yrs old after all of the punishment he's taken over the past couple of yrs. That combined with having back to back training camps for 2 fights that took place within 10 weeks of each other, left him to he a vulnerable opponent with limited stamina. And that's why team canelo took the fight to begin with instead facing someone who wasn't damn near a corpse. Their typical calculated risk. But sure, let's shoot him to the top of a p4p list for stopping 5-1 underdog Kovalev in an other wise boring fight.

The way Kovalev looked like he was hardly trying to win and the way the referee was far too quick to wave off the fight after the knockdown looked very dodgy to me

Fighters are no different from whores, stop complaining you got screwed and you knew it before the fight. You agreed to the fight otherwise you should have said no, you have enought money fought on HBO so many times.

Kovalev was the worst champion coming off a terrible fight. I'm very su****ious of people that have to use their race to try and prove a point though.
