What the hell has happen to boxing?

Through the 70, 80's, 90's, etc, no one gave a damn about this nonsense... This is what the sport has been relagated to by toxic fans

I don't know if it's this new generation or what... Either way, something needs to change.

Everyday all day you got uk and USA dudes worried about their favorite fighters money it’s annoying when I’m 23 trying too learn stuff all I get is motor city or I’m widdit and etc talking about their fav fighters or just straight up networks I try too stay clear but it’s obvious boxing scene doesn’t care but I’m honestly thinking about ending this profile I get no knowledge anymore about boxing on here anymore it’s just network vs network

I think it’s because of increased competition in all phases of boxing.

HBO dominated the network scene for 30 or so years, so there was never a debate between HBO or Showtime until we got towards the end. Everyone had HBO and if you were a diehard, you also had Showtime.

Now you have DAZN, ESPN and Fox competing with each other and there isn’t a clear number one. So everyone fights over what’s better.

In that same time period, the two biggest promoters were Bob Arum and Don King. Everyone else was a small fry. There really wasn’t anything to debate there. GBP came along and added a new dynamic and then that split up into GBP and PBC. Then the British Invasion happened. King also fell off during this time. So now there’s fights over who’s the best when there really wasn’t anything to debate before. I also feel like there’s a black vs. mexican vs. british dynamic that didn’t really exist when it was just King vs. Arum at the top.

Purses also used to be something no one could debate. The highest purse usually went to the best fighters with few exceptions. For the most part, everyone fought everyone until the Mayweather/Pacquiao era. So with the rare exceptions like De La Hoya and Tyson, the guy who beat everyone got paid the most.

Now we have a dynamic where the big names don’t fight each other and have endless negotiations over who deserves the 60 end of the 60-40 split and both fan bases get involved.

It’s all highly obnoxious and I yearn for the olden days to come back. They just never will.

you just crying cause pbc winning the ratings and Showtime ran hbo out of business and Oscar and Tyson were both over hyped both duck guys until they couldn't no more because their fans always made excuses and both lost whenever they stepped up to real boxers and their best wins were against old dudes and cab drivers
