    Ali v. Wilder

How do you think that hypothetical matchup goes?

How do you think Ali handles Wilder’s right hand (that is, if he can even land it on the elusive Ali)?

Wilder's technique (or better said lack of it) would make him look very goofy and clumsy.

Wilder knocks him out in round 1 before Ali even lands a punch.

Ali by KO in 5. See Ali vs. Cleveland Williams.

Prime Ali was at least as good defensively as Fury is now, had a even better chin, and was more offensively capable. Wilder, with all his telegraphing and lousy defense, eats counter rights till it's naptime. A terrible match for Wilder.

Fury would actually stand a much better chance - Ali hated having to box other boxers.

I'm gonna get hate, I see the fight both ways.

Ali would obviously have an edge, but this is a 6'3 man vs 6'7. I would not be surprised to see Wilder manhandle him mid to late fight. His reach would be a bit of a problem

You know, you make a great point here and I agree 100%.

I’ve always thought that that sentiment rings true for most pure boxers — they don’t like to face other pure boxers.

Mayweather fared quite well against KO artists and swarmers (although he had some close fights like Castillo I and Maidana I), but I noticed there weren’t many fights with guys with great jabs and masterful defense. I’m not saying he ducked anyone, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew that was riskier for him. Although different generations, I would have loved to see him fight Pernell Whitaker in a time machine — that would have been fight of the century for me.

No hate from me — although I still think Ali would win, your logic makes sense to me.
