Agreed...both of those Froch fights were controversial. I had Dirrel winning... but he was in both fights...they weren't blowouts, and he's showed me he has the ability to make huge adjustments in how he fights for e.g. in the Dirrell fight, Abraham fight, Kessler rematch and Groves rematch.
Who wins: Hopkins or Carl Froch?

Hopkins. Much higher ring IQ, much more versatile and skilled technical boxer. Froch was great forcing his way inside and fighting guys who were willing to allow him on the inside and fight his game. Hopkins would keep him on outside, force clinches and time/counter him whenever he tried to force action on inside. Hopkins would have been A-side easily, if fight would have been at 168, would have had to be around 2006... and at time Froch hadn't fought anyone. He didn't win the WBC 168 title til 2008 I think... So the fight prob woulda taken place in like 2009 at 175 instead of fighting Taylor, and we all saw what happened there. Taylor was whipping his ass all fight and got careless late. Don't see someone like Hopkins allowing that to happen if he's up big going into final round of that kinda fight.
Styles make fights, and before people try to triangle theory Taylor. Their first fight i scored a draw, the 2nd fight i had Taylor 7-5, as I think most people did, maybe a draw again (i remember that 8th round was close). Hopkins was very skilled, and his longevity in the sport was insane. Froch at 175 vs Hopkins, he gets murdered. I even think there's a chance Hopkins would knock him down a couple times.
I also see a lot of people bragging about Froch resume. I dunno if you people watched those fights or just look on wiki/boxrec. He got some gifts in there. Dirrell clearly beat him and got robbed, Taylor was up 7-4 going into 12th, Kessler beat him clearly the first time, I thought Kessler edged him the 2nd time, had it 7-5 Kessler, those judge scorecards were bogus (UK home field advantage is super real). So with his record put in context for all you boxrec/wiki warriors, you really think Hopkins was losing that? And Hopkins vs Calzaghe was a close fight... i personally score it 7-5 for Calzaghe but it was a good fight. Calzaghe woulda beat Froch as well.Comment

I don't think there is any way for Froch to win.
I'd be surprised if he got blown out, but at the same time, I'd have Bhop winning 10 out of 10 times.Comment

I think that Bernard Hopkins was really good, ATG level, every bit as good as Mayweather was. I think Froch is a brave man with a tough chin and hard fists, but not skilled enough. Hopkins by UDComment

That’s your opinion, but you’re posting it as fact. The Dirrell fight was not a robbery. It was a close fight, spoiled by Dirrell’s constant falling to the ground and moaning. He stunk the place out.I also see a lot of people bragging about Froch resume. I dunno if you people watched those fights or just look on wiki/boxrec. He got some gifts in there. Taylor got KTFO, scorecards are irrelevant.
The first Kessler fight very close, the second fairly close too but Froch clearly won - in my opinion and most others.
Nobody had an easy time with Froch, but I do agree that Hopkins would win most time against him. Hopkins was a great spoiler and I could see him pulling off a terrible looking points win.Comment

I think Hopkins frustrates hell outta Carl, smothers him and stops him getting much off but given Frochs mentality he doesn't stop trying and probably manages to grit his way into winning a few rounds.
Leftfield match up - though I ain't sure it's one anyone would particularly enjoy watching is - is Hopkins vs Braehmer. To my eye Juergen is the closest thing to a European Bhops, high ring IQ, crafty, great at smothering offense and slipping in the sneaky hurtful shots from odd angles outta clinches and stuff.
It would be a battle for the purists, I guess, but I for one always wondered how that one would play out. Chess match chit for sure.Comment

People forget when he needed or wanted to Froch could box well himself from the outside a la Abrahams fight. Froch was more versatile than credited esp later career.
I think fight would get ugly as BHop would do his usual dirty stuff, and Froch wouldn't have it.
Bhop would not be able to drop Froch and does not have styles that would trouble Froch a la Calzaghe or Ward.
Again in UK, ref likely would let Froch fight dirty but not BHop. So the venue would determine the winner.
Froch would have studied how Calzaghe and Kovalev outclassed BHop.
So slight edge to Froch.Comment
