It's pretty clear PBC wants to have Plant and Benavidez in showcase fights where they can both look good to as many eyeballs as possible to build the fight between them into a big event. No problem with that, it's not Plant's fault Angulo beat Quillin's ass and pulled off the upset.

Yes, but Saunders is a former titleholder at 160, with a win over rank 4 super middleweight (TBRB) Eubank

Plant has a win over Uzcátegui, whose claim to fame was his fights with lower top 10 Andre Dirrell

There’s a bit of a difference there. Yes Saunders needs to settle into 168, but Plant has virtually no resume for his entire career

Benavidez aside, there's no excuse for any champion to be fighting Angulo, period.

Saunders is garbage with no decent wins over anyone. His title at 160 was a joke win where he arguably lost to Mike Lee, then held the title hostage fighting nobodies. He's living off his Lemieux win and will continue to do so.

That's what I've been asking, but nobody seems to have the answer.

Did Angulo become IBF mandatory when he beat Peter Quillin? Because they were saying Plant had to face the winner of Quillin/Truax, but then Angulo beat Quillin?
