Comments Thread For: Gamboa Vows To Prove Critics Wrong Against Gervonta Davis

Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa is very eager to prove the critics wrong, when he collides with heavy favorite Gervonta Davis for the vacant WBA "regular" lightweight title. The contest will take place on December 28th, as the main event of a Showtime televised card, with Davis looking to capture his second divisional title.

I feel the same way. As long as Gamboa puts up a decent fight even if he gets stopped down the stretch, I'd be happy with that.

Gamboa was an amazing fighter at his peak. I hate seeing old favorites get fed to younger fighters who they would have likely beat down if they were still in their prime.

I can see that too. Unfortunately, this looks like a lose-lose for Tank. Personally, I think it's a good fight that could test Davis but then some would use that against him. If he stops Gamboa early then he fought a bum. I would like to see a good fight with late stoppage.

                Agreed to all.

Gamboa was something special in his prime. He gave the much bigger Crawford a run for his money even after Yuri had already started downhill. Gamboa looked shot in his last few fights, and he turns 38 in about a month. I’ll be amazed if he gives a good account of himself.
