Canelo vs Andy Ruiz at a catch weight of 215-220?

If Ruiz gets past Joshua, do you think they can make this fight happen at a catch weight on 5 de mayo? Ruiz would have to drop about 30 pounds since he typically weighs in 250 plus pounds. Canelo would probably come in at 180 or 190.

Why would Ruiz like drop his natural weight ? To fight a small man ? Why ? If Alvarez wants to fight Ruiz he should go up to minimum weight for HW.

Because Canelo is the A side. He had to do the same thing against Floyd. Pacquiao did it in multiple occasions. Plus, I don’t think that 220 isn’t a healthy weight for Ruiz. He would really have to drop 20 pounds and shed water weight for the rest.

Canelo vs Wilder at a catch-weight of 200 is more realistic. No way can Andy get down that low. Wilder was just 213 a few fights ago.

I think that the Mexican and Mexican American fans would be sold more into the Canelo vs Ruiz fight. I also can’t see Wilder agreeing to Canelo’s terms when he headlines his own PPVs.

Canelo would get slaughtered. Canelo is excellent at 168 or 175 but that is his upper limit. He is not superman who can do anything. You said a catchweight of 215-220 but that is two different weights. It's your fantasy fight so make up your mind what weight limit you want. Even at 215 it is still a slaughter of Canelo. Ruiz could weigh in at 215 and add 15 more pounds by fight time and be 230 pounds and strong as a bull. Canelo can't carry more than 185 pounds into the ring without slowing himself down and hurting his stamina. Canelo has ots of good fights at his natural best weights of 168 to 175. Ruiz has lots of good fights at heavyweight. Leave things alone and let boxers fight at or near their correct fighting weight. This fight of yours is a mismatch and a bad idea. It would be a circus and Canelo would not accept a fight like this.

This is funny but I'm not sure you are joking, which is scary.

It's funny because it's so absurd. Scary because this is how far this Canelo a-side handicapping of opponents has come. This is almost believable because it would just be the next step in Canelo's quest to "make history".
