I don’t see anything wrong with what DAZN is doing.
I don’t fancy KSI or Paul, never knew about them to begin with, BUT DAZN exploited their following FOR the sake of BOXING! That’s a plus for boxing!
Fact is, IF ANY NEW CASUAL enjoyed the BOXING MATCH, then in theory they would be intrigued by the real boxers of the sport. If 10% liked the sport because of these two, it’s a new following.
Thing is, I don’t see any real boxing fan ever watching this from back catalogue replay. I have no interest in ever watching the fight as well. Just gotta be honest.
I feel the same way!
It was an interesting carnival.
Hearn failed to mention that the vast majority of
PPV purchases were made by non boxing fans who were
only interested in seeing two Youtubers fight. They did
not become fans of BJS, Haney, or boxing in general.
They have already forgotten boxing, and they've gone
back to watching "unboxing videos" and other nonsense.
Logan Paul vs KSI would have sold the same amount of
PPVs if they had played tiddlywinks instead of boxing.
Then why didn't they go that route and avoid any possible physical harm? Oh yeah, it's because there's actually an element of danger that intrigued viewers. While unlikely any of the viewers became boxing fans after that, if there's even a chance, DAZN would take it.

Oh wow! That's pretty crazy. Cant wait to hear the actual numbers. Social media man! They might have something here. I bet DAZN will host a series of events with social media stars boxing now after the success this one had and keep mixing in the professionals to legitimize the event. Not an Eddie Hearn fan but I always pay respect to good business. Good shit Eddie and well fkn done for recognizing the opportunity and jumping on it. Now dont fuck this one up for us Ed!
"You don't realise the audience these guys have...."
Hmmm or we realize that you did an increadibly bad job promoting Anthony Joshua's fight.
Bahaha right? Eddie should learn from these social media guys how to promote. To be real, they were regular joes who promoted themselves to become "stars" on YouTube and social media etc. But thats also why i dont mind Hearn exploiting them for the sake of his and DAZN pockets because it ultimately openes more eyes to the sport of boxing. Most wont become fans but there are the group that will take it up as a nee found love.

Agreed. It served its purpose and doesnt need to be watched by the die hards. Just needed the casuals to live in our world for a night and hope some of them become fans.
It’s really not incredible. They came with their own fanbase from talking about games on youtube. The gaming industry is bigger and more lucrative than boxing.
I think its pretty remarkable. For instance, if the shoe was on the other foot and a famous boxer entered a videogame tournament and made it to the finals agains KSI and they had a big PPV ******ing event for it, I wouldn't order it to see that as a boxing fan. The fact that their fans followed and purchased a boxing PPV event does speak positively about the crave for raw combat. These guys are popular for video games, music, memes and social media related stuff, not boxing. So the fact that they can sell more buys of a boxing event than some of the sports biggest names deserves a little credit, even though the price of the PPV was less than a typical boxing one. Im sure that helped.
Hearn exploited that match for the sake of DAZN subscriptions Point Blank.
Ha yupp he deff did. I just hope even 1% of those guys fans enjoyed the fights and continue to watch and help further cross promote boxing to other genres and audiences.
Will that make up for the $658 MILLION loss DAZN showed for the year Eddie? GTFOH
Could you cite the source of this please? I'm asking purely from an interest standpoint. I can't find any earnings reports from dazn post 2013. I'm assuming this is a "quick sum in your head" figure, however it's always good to see if somebody actually has useful information.
Yeah but Todd Bridges (from different strokes) is the lineal celebrity boxing champ. He needs a shot right now. He beat Vanilla ice who beat the bradey bunch guy. KSI vs. Todd Bridges, if you can get Todd out of retirement, but I know he needs the money. They could get over 1 million buys easy.
Loving it they are from a long line of champs dating back to frank sinatra.
