The announced attendance for Canelo was over 14k. This fight probably only sold 8-9k tickets.

I prefer to watch boxers who can actually box.

Canelo fought in Vegas which can be a strange place when it comes to tickets.

Floyd v McGregor did millions of PPV’s but it was incredibly easy to get tickets if you had the dough. There was still actual tickets on sale on fight day from the box office, not even the secondary market.

It’s very rare you see a vegas fight as a complete sell out, maybe it’s the pricing structure. There’s often a lot of tickets that are too expensive for your average boxing fan in Vegas, unlike here in the UK where most of the arena is affordable sections.

Exactly this. People weren’t paying Vegas prices for this one. They just wanted a good crowd to show on the broadcast they weren’t trying for a huge live gate number.
That said I found that **** show highly entertaining.

Announced attendance and paid attendance are two separate things. On fight night they always announce an attendance that is inflated because they include any random person that was inside the arena like vendors and security. Spence-Porter was announced as having 17k in attendance on fight night but a month later when the official report came out it said they only sold 12k.
