Boxing before 1980 doesn't exist for me

Those were the lgit caveman eras. All fighters in 1950 would get destroyed by the current crop of steroid enhanced super fighters; they have no chance. Even SRR would lose to a 147 floyd mayweather of today, even at 42 years old.

What could Rocky Marciano do against a prime Deontay Wilder? That caveman would be choking on that fat BBC if he even dared to face someone of a wilders' capabilities.

We actually kind of agree lol...though there are some greats, SRR included, who I would never count out, even in today's era...but those types of guys are few and far between...so yeah in general comparing past fighters to today's guys is just not fair to anyone...guys today are bigger, stronger, faster, better conditioned...not to mention that a guy fighting at 175 today would have been a HW or CW years ago...it's cool to pay respect to past fighters though...but if I had to wager on who would win between a top MW today and a top one from 1950, I know which way I am going...even if they were at the same weight on fight night.

I watch some of these old fighters and they're just plodding forward, winging wild punches n chit. How can you show any respect for these guys? I respect that they paved the way for dudes today and had like literally hundreds of fights. But they'd be bodied by even journeyman fighters of today, lol.

I respect any man that gets into the ring...but yes in general I feel like watching old footage of past fights, compared to today's (top especially) fighters...it is like watching amateur vs pro imo.
