I understand the commercial argument short term.
Long term it's not good for sport of boxing.

But maybe they should be paid big money for something relevant they are good at?

I also don't understand the social media and popularity thing either.
So I have no hope in understanding this...

lol it's not hard to understand dude.

let me break it down. they get paid for something they are good at; selling a fight.

        dazn costs money. crazy, right?
so dazn wants to make more money. ever seen south park. remember when canada goes on strike? yeah, same thing.

so they get two of the most popular figures among 12-18 year old males and get them to literally fight. one british, one american. they sell dazn subs and PPVS in england. they sell more british ppvs than joshua did against andy ruiz.

they then inflate hugely the amount of people who are watching devin haney fight. and literally giftwrap him a million dollar check.

boxing didn't hand these two kids ****. they each have 20 million subscribers on youtube. do you have any idea how money you make with a youtube account like that? about 15 million bucks. they brought with them to boxing the focus of a demographic who don't watch TV, buy cable subs, order showitme, order boxing pay pier view, but who watch a f#cking ****load of media on youtube.

you might just be unable to grasp the concept, and that's fine. butts in buckets, UK PPV, and dazn subs is the language boxing speaks. i don't care if you don't!

just know that those two kids fought very hard and they paid devin haney's salary on saturday.

Look at it this way. When boxers were featured on WWE it was at a time they were popular, which brought those eyes to WWE's product. Same as when CM Punk went to MMA, brought wrestler eyes to that product.

Nothing wrong with the promotional and honestly, these guys DID try. We already knew KSI couldn't box though and 3 months isn't going to solve that.

Yes, I get the argument about the cross pollination of fans across codes.
It does makes sense. Because of the casual observers tuning in for the hype,
some will hopefully become proper boxing fans and appreciate the sport.

I honestly didn't know the reach of YouTube and financial clout of these two.

But I do like what "revelated" posted, i.e. that this event enabled cross pollination of fans across codes or platforms.
