Will another Andy Ruiz Jr. win inspire more fat Yanks to turn Pro?

For many years we've heard the saying, "Most great American Heavyweights are playing Baseball, Basketball or Football!" And the majority of Americans are obese and out of shape. This must dissuade a lot of them from getting involved in Boxing, and having to lose weight and get in shape. It has long been thought that Boxers have to be in great physical shape, first and foremost. But... could Ruiz's success usher in a new era in USA Boxing? Could we see yet more successful fat Yanks in the Heavyweight division?

I'm sure we will if there's a Brit champion. Paper chin and no heart and only need a month notice. Who wouldn't take that easy payday?

I guess a better question will be, how long until there is a British HW champion again?

Hi bro, try to keep this thread positive please, thanks. No space for negativity in here!

Tyson Fury has held all belts and never lost a fight. He also clowned the WBC champion for 10 out of 12 rounds. He is the star of the Heavyweight division, but let's not turn this into a nationalistic debate.

How do you say "no space for negativity" when you're specifically calling Americans "fat yanks"?

But who in America is a "fat yank"? The champion who beat Joshua is Mexican

It's one thing to be fat, another thing to be skilled... Ruiz is both...

No everyone can say that ...

I don't believe that at all. Name one great heavyweight who would have made a good pro ball player or one pro ball player that became a heavyweight champ. There are none. Boxing is a very different sport with different skills required.
