THAT DUM-FU-K should be fired asap. He stopped inoue from coming forward after landing a body shot before doniare even went down. WTF WAS THAT?
What the **** was the ref doing stopping it after body shot of inoue?

I think the ref just panicked a bit. Not sure if it is lack of experience or he was worried for Nonito. Either way, no reason to freak out. Refs made mistakes in every sport - this was not a critical one. Donaire would have taken a knee a few seconds earlier but still gotten up at 9 secondsComment

It looked to me like the ref anticipated Inoue would try to attack the staggered Donaire from the other direction and got a bit frozen up when Inoue came the other way and bumped into him.Comment

Yes it was. Inoue could have landed 1-2 more body shots and the fight would have been stopped. Donaire was able to recover.I think the ref just panicked a bit. Nonito starts to run after that body shot. the ref stops inoue from pursuing him. nonito takes a knee 3 seconds later. inoue could surely punch him at least once if not for the ref. at 1:50 until the end of the round, nonito is clearly on the ground. at 1:36 until the end of the round, his knee is still on the ground. the ref is not counting anymore. he already finished the count. his fingers are besides his body and not in a position for counting. naoya's mouth is wide open because he can't believe what's happening. the fight is on youtube. everybody can check this.
so the ref bought 3 seconds and counted for 14 seconds. that's a long count. it would have been stopped by a better ref. i've got massive respect for nonito and naoya but the ref was awful when he was needed. the rest of the fight was clean.Comment

He must of thought Donaire was on his way straight down, even though he was hopping around the ring. It was odd, just a moment of misjudgement. A bad call.Comment
