It just goes to show, no boxer is truly invincible especially when they are up against a veteran in the sport. Rigo and Inoue would be good but for the last couple of years Rigo's fast counters have slowed a bit and he has been hit more than I would like to see. I would also like to watch Tete/Inoue and Nery/Inoue.

This was Inoue's first true test of his capabilities. I don't even think Inoue has reached his peak yet, he's only 26 years old and the Donaire fight is definitely a good learning experience for him, and he showed a lot of things that we haven't seen before. I see Inoue improving himself as he gets older.
This was basically the equivalence of Holyfield vs Qawi 1. Inoue will definitely up his game more in his future fights, don't you worry.Comment

Agreed. Both fighters showed amazing whiskers throughout the fight. Donaire, we knew, had a great chin, but Inoue took some hellacious shots that would have knocked out most opponents. It would have been great to see what a younger Donaire would have done with that little bit more speed and stamina. Great fight nonetheless.Comment

I definitely see Inoue improving but at the same time the lower divisions are usually known to be a young person's game.I don't even think Inoue has reached his peak yet. Not only he did not go down, he had the instinct to try to throw the left hook. That was a right hand of many that landed in a period of time.
Both guys had brought their A game. Great fightComment

Round 8 was brutal for Inoue, Nonito couldn't miss ; then this bomb lands on Naoya in the ninth! Yeah I'm surprised he didn't go down and managed to keep his balance whilst evading oncoming attacks from Donaire, after the wear from the previous rounds.
I say the 'Monster' has a excellent chin and is able to endure/survive difficult moments. Naoya will need to work on being more defensively responsible at mid-range, Nonito was countering him very well.Comment

Just what we needed mid-week. Thanks to both these fantastic warriors.
And I almost won a crazy bet on Donaire winning between 9th and 10th round... when Inoue took that right in the 9th and didn't fall, I realized that my dream was over.Comment
