Yep, that is what Kownacki would do with Wilder and hopefully will have a chance to in the nearest future. But Ortiz is too old and physically too weak for this strategy.
IMO, the only chance for grandpa is to fight defensively and use his technique that is superior to Wilder's lack of technique and win by decision the way Fury did over Kliczko.

be sharper. more defensive. at least, hold his hands higher.

          no different game plan

Break the distance as far as Wilder is in range to give him straight right. Evade close distance encounters or at least come into them in a block..

Enforce an excessive beard rule if one exists. Certain protocols have to be put in place ex Darmani Rock. Theres no reason why a trimmed down facial hair cannot be enforced to some extent ,its a clear advantage of absorbing punches. Wilders facial hair is easily excessive for a pro boxing match .

Beyond that, more body work from Ortiz basically if he can spend the majority of the fight with his head tucked below wilders chest and land them he has a far better chance here.

Close the distance, make sure Wilder doesn't have room to land his long right hand. Circle away from it as well. When inside, land uppercuts hooks to the body. He has to maintain focus and sharpness for the duration of the fight, but that will be difficult as he has questionable stamina and of course wilder has knockout power for all 12 rounds of a fight.

With wilders ability to maintain his ko power in the later rounds when ortiz is likely to fade , plus some of the scoring wilder has had go in his favor in some fights ( before hes found the ko punch) ....i say ortiz should just go for broke in the first 3 rounds and try for an early ko. Easier said than done tho

Don’t get hit with the right hand

If he doesn’t get hit, he wins every second of the fight, just like last time.
