I am a longtime Kovalev fan, and have supported and defended him up until his disgusting performance on Saturday. From the opening bell he was holding back. A lack of a full training camp does not make a fighter forget how to throw a power jab, which is Kovalev’s expertise. I believe Kovalev sold himself out to Canelo.

You can check out the thread I made after the fight. It’s gotten a good amount of replies.

I am not sure but it was very suspect looking fight and it looked like Kovalev wanted to make sure he didn't hurt Canelo. Nothing Kovalev threw at Canelo looked hard at all. There was no speed or snap or bodyweight behind any of his punches. Kovalev never threw a punch with bad intentions the whole fight or if he did I missed it. This from a guy known as the crusher. I didn't see him throw any punches that could crush a g****. Yhe KO was real. Canelo really blasted him with a very fast hard combination and knocked him out. It was Kovalev's soft punching that made me think the fight might have been fixed. I was worried about the fight being fixed before the fight. It all seemed so neatly planned out for cash cow Canelo to win by KO and get fighter of the year ans secade and be bigger than ever. Lots of powerful rich people in boxing absolutely did not want Kovalev to win because it would cost them millions in the future. These are people with tons of money to pay Kovalev enough to make sure he did not win. I cannot remember such an important fight in many years that so many people thought was fixed. Idon't think Kovalev tried to win the fight. It looked like Kovale made a deal not to try to win or even hurt Canelo at all. I can't prove it but I can answer your question and I don't think Kovalev fought to win.

Not to mention all the threads exactly like this one, asking that same damn question, without a poll.

If you're interested the second has the most responses.

Fought like a shot fighter who knew he had no power to offer and no reflexes to react. See Hopkins vs Joe Smith
Sugar Ray vs Camacho, Ali Holmes, Norton vs Cooney,
The best Light Heavy example was the great warrior Matthew Saad Muhammad vs some bum named Eric Winbush or Roy Jones vs Joe Calzahge. Canelo picked a name opponent with a belt and a reputation of being a Krusher who was easy pickings. The fight was a farce and that was exhibited in each strange round. Because the punching was so light it makes you wonder if someone was told to take it easy. Nevertheless Kovalev was shot in his last fight and it aged him besides the fact that he was concussed and had no time to rest the old fighters body for this pure money grab.

Kovalev must feel like sh/t seeing some fans saying it was fixed. His performance was so bad his fans/Canelo critics are saying it was scripted

Dude probably feels like total sh/t.

if you don't train doesn't mean you won't throw as hard as always, it means you will get tired by the 3rd- 4th round. So when fighters don't train and they know it, they let everything go in those first rounds because they know if they don't get the other guy out of there then they will get tired and loose anyway.

Kova was holding his punches, this was fixed.

It reminded me of Canelo vs Angulo. Angulo fought like someone had kidnapped his daughter and told him, "lose or else..."

I won't dump on Kovalev for securing that payday. But those pitty patty jabs and rear crosses without malice were too dang obvious.
