There is no size advantage if same day weigh ins is in effect which will benefit small fighters like Canelo, Tank Davis and Pacman!

Same day weigh-ins are not just a matter of fairness and recognition of the existence of weight classes, although that is a major factor. I mean, what's the point of having weight classes if fighters might enter the ring with a 20lb difference?

But there's something more important than that at play. The increasingly regularity of dehydrating 20+ lbs to gain an unfair advantage is resulting in skyrocketing deaths in the sport. It's not the fact that fighters are facing each other at dramatically different weights causing this, though. It is the dehydration itself.

The body is not capable of recovering from the effects of what would normally be life-threatening dehydration in just 24 hours, no matter what measures are taken. More over, repeatedly performing this process is going to have ongoing effects for the athletes. The biggest reason the trend is only being seen now is because younger and younger fighters are resorting to these dirty tactics.

At one time Canelo was an extremely controversial fighter because of his post weigh-in gains when he campaigned at 154 and put on 15lbs before fight night. Since then, such extreme dehydration has become the normal standard. Because of that, you have kids growing up destroying their bodies and dying in the ring as a result.

I think he wants to stay at light heavy to entice Ward out of retirement. This would be a huge payday for both with both retiring very wealthy.

Saunders says he'd like to go up to LHW and fight Canelo. Call me crazy, but I think BJS would out hustle Canelo for his second L. As for the others... I think Canelo would beat Bivol and probably ole man Ward if he comes back (doubtful), but Beterbiev would be possibly too big of a handful for him.

As far as Ward goes in the battle of protected fighters he would be penalized the first time he tries any rough stuff. He's not going to be allowed to use his go to tactics. The money right now is with Canelo. He's not likely to KO Canelo and won't be allowed to win a decision.

Yeah if there ever was any fight where Ward wouldn't be allowed to cheat, this would be it. Good point.
