Kovalev – who’s 1-2 with two stoppage losses against the pair – is the only common opponent.
I love how we just rewrite history now.
Ward is talked to like hes the connoisseur of beating Kovalev.
A guy with a wide loss with a knockdown in the 1st and one close win and stoppage in the 2nd.

To Lampley, it’s a winnable fight that can put Ward on a level he never reached.

“Only such vehicle now available,” he said. “Worst kind of opponent or Canelo. Not an aggressor. (Against Kovalev) it was always just a matter of time. Andre Ward? Have to go find him. And once you do, then what do you do? I would favor Andre.”
    lol
I love all the blind cuckolds that act like Mayweather and Ward are interchangeable.
Yeah he looks like him, when hes fighting guys like Carl Froch.
Dirrell looked liked that when he fought him too.
Ward’s a sloppy slow stiff plodder spoiler, sorry if that bursts people’s bubble.

It would be the first time in his career that Ward wouldn't have have the referees, judges and venue on his side, blatantly ignoring all his disgusting headbutts, lowblows, clinchfests etc, and awarding him all close rounds

the egotistical Ward would never take this fight
      Stop kidding yourself.

        S.O.G. doesn't "dive"

Cut it out, the S.O.G. gave kovalev a gut check in the 1st fight & then beat the gas out of kovalev the 2nd fight.

and why did Ward not make great money? 'cos he's a boring-ass grappling, head-butting, low-blow ego-centric low-KO-ratio defese-oriented genius - a lot to admire but not much to root for.
            Kinda like Floyd was.

If Ward got up off the couch to fight Canelo Id favor Canelo, if you give Ward at least 1 tune-up Id favor Ward. Give Ward 2 tune ups and Id HIGHLY favor Ward.

Good article and idea. Even with a 2+ year layoff, I would favour Ward. He would frustrate Canelo all night long and win a decision.

                  Whooped based on what?

Ward arguably lost the first Kov fight, possible low blow on the second, taken to a clinic by Darnell Boone, etc. He's another one that people keep overrating for some reason.

If Kov (first fight) was able to put Ward on his ass the way he did, it'd take Carnelo one pull uppercut to do the same.

Great article, but i fail to see why canelo would gain from fighting ward. He doesn't bring a belt; besides, if he loses, people would say he lost to a fighter whose been retired for 2+ years. If he wins, it was expected because ward had been retired for 2+ years. It's a lose-lose situation for canelo

So Ward is retired damn near 3 yrs and some want him to jump back in with Canelo? Just think about how absurd that is. Notice how Canelo beat

                      1. Kirkland coming off a layoff.

                      2. Cotto when he was too old.

                      3. Mosely when he was a grandfather

                      4. An older GG

                      5. An older shot Kovalov.

Also, notice how close the Canelo vsTrout fight was. Also, how close the Canelo vs Lara fight was. Those were men in there prime.
