Watch Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis then tell me why. Both of those dudes hit really hard but so does Wilder, who is a more effective puncher because a boxing stance allows for better generation of punching power.
No, it's not as simple as "they all punch hard so...". Watch Ngannou Vs JDS. The 2 self proclaimed "best boxers in the UFC HW division", and yet when they fought all they did was kick each other legs. First punch they threw was 2 minutes into the fight and was the end of it, it was all kicks up to that point.
MMA is a different game. Put Fury against Overeem and he would simply take him down like he did to that undefeated kickboxer Pavlovich and ground and pound, even though Overeem is a kickboxing champion and could stand with them.
Ngannou is not even that good of a striker. He has won so much in the UFC because he is great at stopping takedowns and has massive power. Look at him against Blaydes, Overeem and Cain who always get takedowns on everyone but couldn't on him. Look at Blaydes against high level strikers like Mark Hunt, he always win by taking them down. Ngannou forced them to stand with him.
Fury needs to develop some takedown defense first. Otherwise he will end up like Badr Hari. Even Ngannou would go for a takedown against him. Then he needs to adjust to the spacing of Muay Thai and learn how to check kicks. And all this so he can fight for a LOT less money than he already wins in boxing...
