Comments Thread For: Cecilia Braekhus To Katie Taylor: Congratulations, See You Soon

Cecilia Braekhus has made her reaction well and truly known as Katie Taylor became a two-weight champion. The undisputed welterweight champion, who has long been touted as a potential future opponent for Taylor, recently inked a deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.

Braekhus easily dominates Taylor if they fight.

I can’t wait to see the sexiest woman in boxing dish out a beating on Taylor for running away from Persoon

I don't know about that. Braekhus is getting up there in age.

Taylor lost to Persoon at 135 and she had trouble with Linardatou at 140.

Braekhus is better than both and bigger than both.

Taylor won't be able to hurt Braekhus, and unlike her last few fights Taylor won't have a skill advantage either.

Shields is a fight Braekhus could get herself into trouble with, but Katie Taylor is easy money.

I wouldn't bet on it. Cecilia is pushing 38 - that in itself is a massive factor. Plus Cecilia has not really been tested much in her career. Its a bit of Ronda Rousey syndrom - you are great, until the overall level of the division raises and then you are..not so great anymore. I don't know if that's the case with Cecilia (she is an excellent fighter), but coupled with age she might very well lose to Taylor or Clarissa (if they fight at weight reasonable for both). Plus she changed trainers and Abel is known for training fighters very physically, it might take a toll at this age. In a really solid match-up I wouldn't necessarily favour Cecilia anymore.

              Braekhus untested?

She beat Mia St John, she beat Mikaela Lauren twice, she beat Anne Sophie Mathis twice, Habazin, Reis, etc.

She has another fight against a two weight world champion this month and I bet she looks much more impressive than Taylor did against Linardatou.

She has defended her undisputed title 9 times and is 24-0-0-0 in unified world title fights.

My analogy with Ronda Rousey was not out of whack. Ronda, judging by how she dealt with the solid opposition who beat her, was also untested, i.e. never had a similar level of opposition. I wonder if the same is with Cecilia. Or she was just that dominant that she would have won even if she met her match. On paper she looks awesome and, on merit, she is an excellent fighter and a star, but how many real stars has she beaten? She might be similar to GGG in a way - true tests come after 35. GGG passed his, IMO, I hope Cecilia will pass Taylor, but I doubt she will beat Clarissa, Clarissa has got the pedigree, skills, confidence and, very importantly, youth on her side.

                  Cecilia beats Taylor
Really not impressed with Taylor , lots of holes in her game
Wouldn’t bet on Cecilia beating fughface Shields although not so high on Shields
But thinking the fresher and younger one would pull it off in that fight

Funny how people comment on fights they obviously didn't watch. That gem of a boxer gave a beautifull performance and is only getting better. Props to KT for a brilliant fight. She really is a class act!
