He said his coaches gave him those instructions, almost like they chose not to do the stiff jab to avoid the counters, which is exactly what Canelo was looking to do, it might have been mistake, if he had chosen to stiffen the jab from the get go Canelo might not have continued to pressure and kovalev might have had more breathing room to maintain energy further into the fight, my guess is he started to wear out in the 7th,,, great fight to study

Im not gonna say it was a fix cuz that combination was real but what makes me scratch my head is the way kovalev approached the fight.

I understand that he didnt want to step in with hard jabs in fear of getting countered but that same weapon worked against much bigger opponents so i dont know what he was thinking. And as some mentioned, he didnt throw any power punches which was really weird. It’s as if he was payed extra to fight in a certain way.

The ko is legit but the fight itself was fix.. Canelo tried everything to ko kov while kov tried everything not to hurt canelo. That's the real story of the fight.

A fighter who’s already damaged going into the fight and then is tired and taken some shots in said fight can get stopped by perfectly placed shots and Canelo hit him perfectly!
