It was his shoulder that he was "throwing" at him. A well known tactic for diminutive gingers.
    Well scripted.

To be fair the jab strategy was actually working. Kovalev was winning rounds and Canelo was having some difficulty getting through or around that jab.

Who, other than Mayweather has ever won enough rounds against Canelo?

Wasn't Canelo up yet again on the cards? So the plan obviously did not work lol

This is why I'd rather watch what the UFC did last night or fights featuring the likes of Usyk, AJ, Loma then any big American show.

Like I can even get Kov putting in a half ass effort knowing he is cashing out and retiring. BUT he was so consistently throwing pulled punches, WHILE canelo was lighting him up, its a natural reaction for a fighter to want to throw back and land his. Even if he is cashing out, I dont see Kov managing to not throw back with power for an entire 11 rounds, that is intentionally suppressing your natural instincts.

You are basically left with 2 possibilities: a really bad strategy from mcGirt or a pay off. And I dont see the argument, well he would be open to counters, as a good argument because he was still getting countered anyways so what is the point in continuing to pull your punches, while dropping rounds and not going for the KO or atleast cause some damage. In the early rounds while the announcing team is talking about what a great strategy it was, Im thinking look at Canelo though he is taking Zero damage while continuously breaking down Kov, WTF is mcgirt thinking.

I turned to my friend who is a complete noob and said "Koavel is pulling his punches". He asked me what that meant and I explained it...a couple rounds later, he finally understood and then asked the obvious question, "why?"

It is sad that Kovalev would end his career in such ignominy for a bit of money he will probably lose ******** and drinking.

It was razor close on the cards prior to the stoppage. One judge even had it a draw.

Mayweather basically shut him out on rounds but STILL only won a majority decision. Some *** head judge gave Canelo 6 rounds in that fight.

I wrote that this is exactly what Oscar had JCC Jr do vs Canelo and thus predicted that to occur in this fight.
