Canelo can push the envelope a bit further, but forget about heavyweight as some mentioned, would be crazy to take on Wilder and tall and slick Fury. Roy Jones started at middleweight and went up to heavyweight once, whereas Canelo started at welterweight if I'm not mistaken and then mostly at light middle.

Roy Jones going up to heavyweight was the end of his career... messed his body up after the Ruiz fight was never the same when dropped back down to light heavyweight adding on those extra pounds of bulk, same can happen to nelo if he drops all way back down to middleweight

Obvious fix. Kovalev got paid $14m to eat those shots, maybe even more in a cash bonus like Canelo got for playing soft for Floyd ($5m). Kovalev at those hard shots for the $ just like Stiverne did for Wilder and Haymon.

That all I wanted to hear is that you know he is an excellent fighter. It also wasn’t a joke. Watching hours of film McGirt and Kov knew Canelo’s strength were his chin, defense and counter punching. Knowing this they planned to fight at distance and use reach as advantage. For a good deal of the fight it worked as they had planned. They didn’t want to throw high volumes of power shots, miss repeatedly and leave him open to counters. Had he done this the fight I believe would have ended much sooner.

There’s nothing joking about that. The plan just didn’t work and by the time they needed to make adjustments to that plan it was too late. That is Boxing 101. Additionally, everyone thought Kov was a live dog. He KOd a much younger and stronger fighter in his last fight. The problem is Canelo is elite level, has unmatched ring intelligence and knows when to turn it on. Casual? Hardly....I’ll call BS where I see it and calling it su****ious is exactly that...BS

Canelo never said that Kovalev was fighting defensively. The idiot translator added that in on his own.

What Canelo actually said was that Kovalev was using his jab very well and scoring points with it. And that they knew the fight was close so the plan was to have patience and close strong in the championship rounds.
