The time for that fight is now. Ward actually has a worthy opponent to train for. After he beat Kovalev most experts felt he could have handled triple G at a catchweight at least... But Canelo has filled out and can fight Ward at a good weight.

I would love to see Ward decide to train and do this fight. I can respect why he would stay retired...It is just the fan in me talking lol.

        Dominated two division?

He had 4 fights at lhw to of them was against kov with one being a controversial win and the other was a tune up against a scrub.

Canelo resume is super bloated with old fighters and controversial wins I'm going to go with Ward.

Ward is one guy that would never beat Canelo heads up.

someone that needs hometown judges and refs with 0 KO power would never win a fight using illegal tactics and favorable judging against Canelo

          Canelo beats Ward 10/10 times.

Guys in here acting like Kovalev didn't get robbed in the first Ward fight when they're mentioning Canelo getting gifts.

Give me Canelo all day. He's got years ahead of him and it won't even be close. 20 years from now, Canelo will still be talked about like May and Pac, Ward won't ever be mentioned unless old age Max Kellerman is telling stories at the senior center

You can say both, but for different reasons. If most of Canelo's good wins weren't either controversial or opportunistic, I'd say Canelo easily. He looks better on paper. But, looking at how many killers Ward beat in their primes vs the circumstances of Canelo's wins, Ward's have more value.

lol saint ward is the goat, all hail mr american andre ward!!! anyone who disagrees is either a hater, a racist, or a kovalev fanboy (or all 3).

canelo has the better resume easy, ggg is a better win than froch and ward lost to kovalev in the first fight - canelo ko'd kova after jumping two weight classes, whereas at that time ward was a natural lhw (already fought up there). ward is one of the most overrated fighters ever. he isnt a great boxer like mayweather though he is a great tactician (he bends the rules in a-side territory) and there is something to dig about his style, but it aint clean.

amazing how ward is treated as some atg after winning the super 6 at smw, losing to kovalev but getting a gift, and then beating an alcoholic in the rematch (the nutshots were dirty for sure, but the win was legit because kova couldve done the same thing but he didnt)

adrian broner couldve retired young and been an atg, but the sucker just had to keep fighting up in weight. same with chocolatito. ward retired young but he didnt beat the other champions at lhw.

yeh it is canelo, though ward is very good, he eclipsed his nearest rivals like calzaghe and benn and ottke in his first title fight.

but canelo has done something else.

But lets conveniently ignore the Kovalev wins were controversial as hell.

Ward lost the first Kov fight and needed to hit Kov in the balls to "beat" him in the second.

But lets not bring that up though.

                      You just did...

                      1) Lets look at Ward in totality. He won a tournament straight up that he was not expected to win and he did so dominating the competition. In at least one of those fights with Kov he hit him with a big punch that damaged the Russian considerably. Its on tape... One can see the effect of that punch.

Your caveat is duly noted. but given that punch and how it affected Kov...was that second win really that contraversal? I understand that Ward hit him low, but how much was that responsible for the way that fight played out? It had nothing to do with Kov getting tagged with that counter punch that much is certain.

What has Canelo done to merit the same consistent domination of his opponents, as Ward? I just do not see it. I will say this though: Wouldn't a fight between these two be the bees knees?!
