Comments Thread For: Seniesa Estrada Beats Marlen Esparza Via Technical Decision

LAS VEGAS Marlen Esparza fought as long as she could Saturday night with one of the most disgusting cuts you'll ever see in a boxing ring. After the ninth round, a ringside physician finally decided Esparza shouldn't continue with a sizeable portion of her forehead exposed. That decision afforded her rival, Seniesa Estrada, a technical-decision win in what began as a very competitive bout, before an accidental clash of heads caused that nasty gash in the fifth round of a scheduled 10-rounder on the Canelo Alvarez-Sergey Kovalev undercard at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

That gash on Esparza's head is one of the most brutal gashes I've ever seen.

Where did they find these judges at? You couldn’t even give Estrada the first 4-5 rounds 😂 what a robbery

Scorecards were a joke. I didn't pay attn the entire time but it was way closer. Esparza was doing good work the whole fight.

I can’t believe that. I’m no pro but I had it 6-3 Esparza. No idea how someone could see Estrada winning every round. Wow

You don’t know your ass from your elbow then. You simply don’t know what you’re seeing. Estrada dominated that fight from start to finish and could fairly have been given every round. Esparza was tough as nails, but she cannot hang with Superbad.

I would really like to see a rematch. I thought Marlen Esparza won that fight.

I had no dog in this fight. When they said they were going to the cards I definitely thought Esparza was the winner by one maybe two rounds. The score cards were absolutely a shocker. Don’t know what these judges were watching.
