Dude wasn't a bad boxer at all. Technically sound and kept in great shape, so why the sudden retirement? There were plenty more fights to be made with other fighters.

His eye had been badly injured and he was told by doctors that if he continued to fight, he risked going blind, so retired from the sport.
Although he had been struggling before, retirement hit him hard, and a marriage breakdown and lack of routine and fights to prepare for meant everything started to spiral out of control.

He just about past the medical test, and his trainer was not happy with him having to defend his title 'Straight away against Mike Tyson' in his book he explains all of this 'His trainer past away after the Mike Tyson fight also etc'
Frank Bruno had achieved it all anyway, he was only beaten by champions in championship fights. Mike Tyson x 2, Bone Crusher Smith, Lennox Lewis and Tim Wither-spoon 'In all of those fights apart from his last fight, he gave a really good effort' it was a complete myth that Bruno would just disappear when put under pressure. He was winning both fights before he was stopped against Bone Crusher Smith & Tim Witherspoon, and for me? I think he as at his peak vs Lennox Lewis, that night I don't see many heavyweights in today's era beating him.
All round solid fighter.
