Well...reading through all the comments it certainly looks like people believe it is handicapping Kova. Cries of 'unfair', 'no respect now', 'B/S', and other conspiracy theories thrown out there.
In fact I'm honestly surprised how it seems like so many people were just waiting for something like this, to malign Alvarez and GBP.

Here's what doesn't make sense to me. 1) There is a thread from 9/13/19 claiming this rehydration clause was in effect..so really it's not "breakout" news. 2) If Kovalev weighed 183.5 and 180 lbs, the night of his last 2 fights, how does this clause even come into play ? He's allowed to weigh 185 lbs. the MORNING of the fight. He supposedly didn't even weigh that much the NIGHT OF his last bout.
At the end of the day, this clause has close to ZERO impact on the fight preparation and fight itself.

Anyhow, I am super hyped for this fight and per usual I don't cosign the negativity. This is the biggest fight of the year so far, for me. Ruiz/Joshua build-up will probably be the only one bigger.
LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEE !

The bookies have Canelo as a huge favourite. Kovalev is rank outside. I’ve been toying with the idea of putting £20 or £30 on him, just in case.
I’m no Canelo fan but I expect him to win, basing his gameplan on a LOT of body work.
Yeah that’s definitely a strong argument. The thing is you could spin it and say that he fought two very close fights against GGG and arguably lost the first fight.

I think Kovalev is better than GGG and he is also 2 divisions bigger.

He is good but not the most skilled. Not by a long shot.
