1) Kovalev had a short turn-around... he knew that the Canelo fight was next, so he would not have gained much weight in-between camps
2) word coming from inside Team Kovalev, indicates that camp went perfectly
based on that, this is just my humble opinion, but I could be wrong...
Kovalev should have had NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER making weight, and was well on point earlier in the week... so he ate this morning, which is why he was a little heavier... and that is why/how he could take a dump to lose the 1/4 pound
could be wrong... but it sounds the most likely explanation
most fans have NO idea what happens in camp or on fight dayComment

Does anyone think Kovalev is gonna win? The odds are great - 10-3. £30 would win £300. I guess the bookies are rarely wrong though.
Kovalev didn't look that great against Yarde, and Canelo is multiple levels higher than Yarde, regardless of weight.Comment

Oh other than a miscalibrated scale (not jumping to "rigged" conspiracy theories, but a slightly off calibration seems like an occasional inevitability) it really is the only explanation for that timespan. Just seems odd be wouldn't see to that business and do everything possible to naturally minimize weight beforehand, including a huge deuce, unless he was rushed, constipated, or just supremely confident he was well within the limit and there was no pressing need. I think these guys' teams all meticulously monitor their weight and generally have a pretty precise idea going in just where they stand. He seemed genuinely surprised, but maybe he just miscalculated.1) Kovalev had a short turn-around... he knew that the Canelo fight was next, so he would not have gained much weight in-between camps
