Yes he does.

Jacobs, Trout and Lara aren’t elite and they were all really close fights. Everyone else he fought has old.

He also hasn’t fought a mandatory in eight years.

same thing i say about canelo/golovkin applies to most here...

canelo was 27...was he supposed to fight him sooner and jump right up to MW and fight golovkin right off the bat? we cant take fighters and magically make their fights prime for prime.....thatd be fun and nice....but fighters peak or arrive at "star" status at different times....some make it quicker...others take more time.....what happened between golovkin/canelo wasnt someone playing the "waiting game" for the other guy to get old...it was canelo waiting until the time was right/best for him to make the move

he had to jump on floyd early or probably never get it....some of the other guys...i mean he was still on the come up against shane and shane just happened to be old and past it.....cotto still performed well but that fight hit its stride when it did....

it would be great if we could take all of the fighters canelo fought and make them their 27-29 year old versions...its just not possible...dont hate on canelo for being born when he was....thats just irrational

andrade? why doesnt golovkin fight him instead of an unordered ibf mando? i mean...both guys are right there with DAZN...easy fight to make....canelo is taking a challenge....

His earlier fights such as Floyd and Mosley couldn’t have happened any sooner, and Canelo was very young, so he somewhat deserves credit for facing a guy like Mayweather at 23.

The GGG fight definitely could and should have happened sooner. All that 155 lb catchweight and marinating BS was on Team Canelo and arguably Canelo himself.

I think this next decade will define Canelo’s legacy, will he fight a Andrade or Charlo, if he continues to fight above 160 will he fight a Smith or a Bivol.
he’s undoubtedly a great fighter but (whether intentional or not) his resume evidently lacks wins over top level opponents in their primes.

GGG isn’t even a big enough star to get a rematch for the titles he held after a controversial decision.

So I don’t know what to tell you when every champion from welterweight to heavyweight isn’t a big enough star to deserve a fight with Canelo.

I guess he can fight whoever he wants, even if they’re ancient.

GGG is fighting a mandatory, something Canelo hasn’t done in 8 years.

Probably because GGG wants to hold on to the belt he was told was necessary to get him another fight with Canelo. We moved the goal posts because he did exactly what everyone said was the one thing preventing the third fight.
