Yea. I can see the point he's trying to make buuuuut the implications aren't good. At least we know there is a bar Canelo doesn't seem to want to go under when it comes to his opponents. I think that's a good thing.Comment

who the hell wants to see superstars fighting no hope mando's over an over again?? ya'll must love those GGG/Wlad mando fights we sat thru for yearsComment

Fighting mandatories is for boxing plebs, Canelo is boxing royalty
Cash cows don't fight mandatories, just ask Mayweather
he avoided Thurman for what, 3 years straight?
never fought Pac when Pac was mandatory either
only reason he fought Guerrero was because it was an easy, cakewalk of a fight, and he had a guaranteed purse anywayComment

Aren’t all these people who are against mandatories the ones who said GGG ducked Derevyanchenko and Charlo because they were his mandatories?
I’m so confused by all this hypocrisy.Comment

When you call your own shots you tell the alphabet orgs who your fighting.
If your trying to make name for yourself you beg the orgs to rank you or sign with a connected promoter to be given title fights.
Oscar, Floyd, Pac, and now Canelo don’t get told who to fight. Comes with the cash cow territory.Comment

It's weird. Yeah the rankings could be better but a lot of good fighters get shafted for years by these guys ducking their mandatories.Comment

It's simple. Avoiding mandatories is OK if you're going after bigger fish to fry
avoiding Derevyanchenko to fight Kovalev is ok
avoiding him to fight Vanes Martyrosian is notComment
