Finally, confirmation on that. Better late than never I guess. Disappointing but, ya know. S'unsurprising.
Official rehydration clause of 185 for Kova vs Canelo. Does it matter?

Not to be a pedantic **** but I think you may have misread the blurb. It says "Although Canelo didn't ask for a *catch weight*, there is a rehydration clause in the contract". So it's not saying "He didn't ask for the RC, but there's one anyway", but rather "Although there's no CW, there is this other bull****". Easy to misread though.Comment

As long as he knew in advance it's not an issue IMO. Besides IMO Kovalev always looked best in the earlier part of his career (pre-Hopkins) when he was typically coming below 185. His mobility was always one of his biggest assets.Comment

He hasn't fought for an IBF title in two years which is a long time for an old man like Kovalev. The body changes and it becomes more difficult to control your weight, so I do think it would have an impact.Comment

that was a younger fresher kovalev. six years ago. what was kovalev's weight coming into his last 3 fights? he may not be able to make it below 185 anymore. the weight clause is BS and adds another asterisk to this fight. shame on clenelo!Comment
