Comments Thread For: Hopkins: I Know Canelo Will Have His Hands Full With Kovalev

Former two division world champion Bernard Hopkins expects Canelo Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) to have his hands full when he steps in the rung with Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KOs). Canelo, currently at middleweight, will move up by two weight divisions to challenge Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight title on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

    I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they didn't

train or spar one another for this easy pick fight. The mega star will win and drop back down in weight because this is a predictable outcome in my opinion.
Kovalev not even talking like a real champ!

I would typically agree with Bernard. However, it is the Pre-Andre Ward, Sergei Kovalev that would be a hand full for Canelo; Not this version. Had this been the Pre-Andre Ward Krusher then Canelo wouldn't so much as entertain or fancy the idea of challenging him to a bout.

Canelo is a bully. He is preying on someone that he sees as potential weaker and more frail than usual.

Who does Alvarez thinks he's fooling? He's only taking this fight because Sergei is appearing more vulnerable than usual and has been exposed on at least three occasions where he was stopped.

I call this fight bullshit! It's nothing more than a showcase fight in order to feature Ginger's skills.

Poor Hopkins, I thought he will be the last one who is interested in a fight between two white weak men.

If the torch is truly passed, that will mean if Kovalev gets the best of it early Canelo will launch himself at the floor and claim a shoulder injury.

I'm wondering if B-Hop's getting ready to take over control of Golden Boy from DLH, at least temporarily. He certainly seems a steadier pair of hand to have at the wheel at the moment, with Oscar falling out with their most lucrative fighters and having to answer to the Sexual Harassment Panda.

Hopkins knows this "fight" is a rigged business deal. And he's selling this fraud fight by trying to convince you that Kovalev is a dangerous threat. But Kovalev has to throw the fight because he's an old man and he's cashing out and he needs to pay off two women he tried to **** (allegedly) or have sex non consent. Kovalev is compromised now and will dance to the tune of Oscar and Canelo.

Oscar even f***** up by saying GGG vs Canelo 3 will happen next year and Canelo told him to shut up.

                Not a great fight

                Champion4ever,
I agree with you fully and see this fight as a farce. Canelo on the outer world is seen as a gladiator willing to take on the toughest contenders possible. To folks who know boxing this fight is crap. Kovalev before Ward got to him who have beat Canelo from pillar to post. Now he is damaged goods and emotionally fragile. This fight is a wash. This definitely is not a pay per view fight.

Kovalev may not be at his peak, but he should still have enough left in the tank to trouble and maybe even beat Canelo.
