Wladimir would have to prove that that he can take a good punch from a good heavyweight. I know Peter knocked him down, and I heard Chris Byrd hits like a girl so he couldn't hurt Wlad, and Wlad destroyed him.
Wlad was hurt by several looping right hands that Peter landed, which lead to the last knockdown. The other knockdowns came from rabbit punches, and Peter caught Wlad with several left hooks that didn't seem to bother him. I think Wlad may not take punches high on the head as well as he doesn on the chin.
Another point is that when Brock landed that big left hook vs. Lawrence? He got a perfect opportunity to land that punch
that he may not get from Wlad.
then why does no one care? this is not a hate thread by the way because i have nothing against wlad, but the heavyweight division is regarded as the marque division, and we have a best, yet no one cares. is it just that he has to prove it first? do we need a little more time? i think he hasn't proven himself yet, and maybe we should give it a couple of years or so. but, if he never gets the chance to fight any of the other "champs" then no wonder no one gives a **** about this division anymore. whatever happened to the best fighting the best?
He is probably the best, but hasnt proven it against the best fighters in the world.
Its kind of by default, because everyone else really isnt that good.

Up to that point, the fight was boring as hell, too.
And patheticlly close.

Yeah but it was only close because of the rabbit punch-knockdowns. I agree about the boring part though.
If Peter had been hurt by some of those right hands he took,
it might have been a little more exciting, but when you have a fighter that can take a huge punch but has very little stamina, that can make a boring fight.
