  • Are The Women In Boxing ******? WHY DO THEY THINK THEY SHOULD GET EVEN PAY?

This is the one thing I dont get about women in sports who cry about what men are making.

Your are not paid according to your talent level, you are paid accordin to how much you can sell! how much paying fans you have. Its not a gimmie that cause you become a champion that all of a sudden you become a millioniare just cause other champions are.

I seen idiots like Lou Dibella say shit like

“It’s a career-high payday for them, but we’re only beginning to crack the door open,” he continued. “I want to thank DAZN and Eddie for helping to crack the door open, but it’s time to knock the f—ing door down!”

Crack what door down? The vast majority of people do not like Womens boxing (just as they dont like most other women sports), so what door are you talking about? You want people to tune in and watch something just because they are females? females should be compensated unaccordinly just because they are females?

Do these females really think that their are evil men who controls the money and pay them what they pay them out of spite just because they are females? or is it they are paying you accordinly to how much your image/persona brings to the table? You want to get paid the same as the main even just because you hold a belt even though the only people who paid to see you are youre 8 relatives? meanwhile the maineven sold out the venue?

Equal pay for equal work brah, it's 2019, get with the times. You don't have to like it, but you WILL accept it. Deal with it. Yeah. I sure told you.

The capital letters in the thread title, really helped convey your very well established argument. Speaking for all women at once, is like me saying every Ruiz Jnr fan is a biggot, based on 1 forum thread I read.

Maybe some women have demanded equal pay, but maybe the vast majority just want equal opportunity to entertain and be paid in accordance to how many tickets they are selling.

And who would be withholding that from them ****wit?

No one cares about women boxing, I'm sure they're paid accordingly.

The ****e girls can fill Wembley they get paid accordingly irrespective of their ***. can katie Taylor or claressa shields do 80000 at Wembley like froch groves? Serena Williams is rich af more so than tim henman I'm sure, she has been paid her worth as a star. Capitalist society/an open market isn't ***ist or racist or discriminatory at all, it's all about the coin.
Katie Taylor is about to main event/headlineI'm sure she'll get paid what she deserves. I'm sure mtk wouldn't let her take less that her worth. I'm sure she also gets paid a lot more than lots of men. Where is the ***ism. Elaborate . That's a very vague comment from you old dear

Crys for equal opportunity is more feminist spiel, they get the opportunity and nothing changes. We live in an open society this isn't Saudi. We live in a greedy society if there was money to be made off these women I'm sure it would be seen as a valuable market to tap in to. Hearn and others have tried desperately to shove women's boxing down our throats. They'd love it to take off and cash in. No one is purposely holding women down in 2019. It's a load of bs. Just nobody wants to watch that ****e. The talent pool is shallow, it looks distasteful to many, the talent level is low in comparison to men's. It's just not for most men.

OK. For one it'd probably be helpful if you linked to where you saw a chick demanding equal pay in boxing. All you've posted here is a quote from Lou, who despite the ambiguous name is still a man I think - and one who has a lot more experience in the business of boxing than you do. And what Lou is suggesting is there is a massive gap in the market for womens boxing and that if it's tapped it could drive up the pay for female boxing stars. If they're right in their assessment it also does make sense to treat a few female stars as loss leaders, firstly to draw more women to boxing (which I think is only a good thing) and secondly raise the profile of the women who already do box.

Lemme ask you man, if boxing gets made illegal, do you think women or men will be the driving force behind that? If kids don't go into boxing will it be because of the mums or cos of the dads? You better believe that if we want the sport to thrive we should get the women on side and getting women fighting and watching the fights is a big step in that direction.

Now I've focused on the pragmatic here, cos my spidey senses are telling me that a moral and ethical argument would be a waste of time on a dude who calls women ****** for asking for better pay, but I gotta ask - just in principle here, not as it relates to boxing - do you not believe in equal pay for equal work?

I think you misunderstood my point, or perhaps I didn't make it clear. I wasn't advoating for more or less womens boxing, I wasn't exclaiming how they're being held back or encouraged or otherwise. I was pointing out that making such generalized statements is just a ****** thing to do, regardless of the topic. Women want equal opportunity, as do men.

Women are finding their way onto cards now and their industry is growing - however the facts are the facts, we haven't been as entertained yet. Fair! But that's not to say they are incapable or ineligible - rhonda proved women can entertain like heck in combat sports. It just takes time and exposure, that's all the majority are asking for. As the exposure grows, so does the pool of fighters taking up the sport, therefore your talent and entertainment will likely increase with it. Women's boxing needs a 1 punch knockout power star to emerge and people will watch, just as they do in UFC. What is entirely unhelpful? Posts like the OP, screaming and calling people ******

I agree that as women's boxing starts to become more popular the gap should reduce. However, these sort of things don't just happen overnight, and it's not like gender is the only form of pay gap in boxing - the gulf between the stars of the sport who make mega millions for every fight and the lower end fighters who have to sell tickets and barely make enough to get by is even more extreme. It all just boils down to what delivers the best value for the fans and ergo what makes more money for the promoters - and let's be real, the current top level of women's boxing is only a fraction as good in terms of spectacle and the talent on display as men's boxing right now. Hopefully having more talented women coming through the amateurs and olympics will broaden the pool of fighting talent, and perhaps they should consider having three minute rounds to make it seem less like women's boxing is a toned-down version of the mens' contest.
