Is it just me or does there seem to be 0 buzz for Canelo-Kovalev

I been thinking the same thing, once again it doesn't feel like a typical Canelo fight week

While DAZN is a excellent APP and I love what they're trying to do with it...no doubt it is a Drop Off compared to what a Canelo fight week use to be when he was on PPV. It is just that Promoters no longer Promote anymore (besides Eddie Hearn). Top Rank, GBP, even PBC got their deal and now they're just letting the Network and App take care of the Promotion for the fights I guess

I think people have grown accustomed to Canelo fighting on Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day weekend. This is an odd date for him, just like the Fielding fight last year. I did see a few TV ads while watching the NFL this weekend though...

There are so many sporting events during this time of the year. NFL, NBA, World Series. It's never going to break into the mainstream. There's people talking about a UFC fight here, I would not have been aware of a UFC fight if it wasn't mentioned within the boxing news sites I visit. Combat sports will never break into mainstream unless it's a mega fight. This is not a mega fight.

Same here....it just feels....dull. I'm pretty heavy on social media and I've seen countless posts about it, but it still doesn't have that "it" factor like big fights use to in the not too distant past.

Maybe it's the whole "app" thing that kinda kills the buzz. I was talking about this last night, but maybe it's time viewers accept the idea of streaming television....it's becoming a big thing.

I just see reactions when people hear certain fights are on an "app", but these are mostly casual fans I speak of.

Canelo's a huge star, but there still is a language barrier and Kovalev has one as well, so that may be the issue here.

It's fights like Canelo/Lara, Canelo/Angulo, Canelo/Cotto, and other fights with language barriers...you like the matchup, but the buildup may not be something to call home about.

Somebody also mentioned all of the sports going on right now (World Series, NBA, College Football) that's getting a lot of buzz as well....we can never discount that.

Hopefully I'm not just getting old and fight week just "isn't a thing" anymore like it used to be, but I remember being more excited for fights than I am now.

The one thing I can say is, I appreciate how much boxing we've been getting since the launch of streaming services and network tv dates picked up!

It has been promoted. I have been watching sports during last month and there have been some commercials. When I went to the movies they had a commercial that they will be playing the fight there. Danz sends e-mails also on the event.

It has been promoted but there is little interest. It is not like these two were on a collision course and everybody wanted to see the fight. It is an interesting fight but it really is a money grab fight.
