So some of you punks are still complaining about who Davis is fighting. Davis had one single belt and vacated moving up to a newer, heavier division. This should just be a test to get used to the new division, nothing more. Gamboa should be good enough for this step up and tell us a bit more about Davis. After this, Davis should step up more than likely to tougher competion at this heavier class.

In comparison, one of the concensus pound for pound fighters, Usyk was a four-belt unified champion. He was scheduled to fight some mma fighter, and then fought a damn near 40 year old 5 day replacement. This guy was fresh off his couch and hasn't been a contender in years. Yet, NOBODY had issue with Usyk's first warm up in a heavier division, and some think he should fight another bum to get acclimated. Usyk's face looked terrible and never really hurt the guy. He was just fat, old, un-trained and tired.

Why don't ya'll cut the crap and just say the real reason you are mad at this matchup?

This is gonna be in my city and I can’t wait! I’m tired of traveling for fights, but I that comes with the territory since boxing isn’t big here in Atlanta.

Also...I’m wondering how Jack’s gonna look against Pascal, he’s gotten far since the loss to Brown me but has been somewhat training over the past month or two (according to his IG).

We all know Pascal’s pretty much shot, but I’m also sure he’s mentally revived after the Browns fight a couple of months ago.

May haveta go to this one. You could count on one hand the significant fights in Atlanta over the past 20 years.... and I'm not all that far away. Not that I expect Yuriorkis to win, but I do think he'll put up a good fight. And it will be interesting WHEN (not IF) Gamboa lands a bomb on Davis' head. See how he handles that.

difference is usyk fought every top guy at cruiser before moving up. tank fought no one and now he's fighting no one again.

a more apt comparison would be what if usyk won a belt off the weakest champ at cruiser, defended for 3 years against bums, then moved up and headlined a card against a bum. people run out of patience. its been 3 years.

Tank should be fighting guys like Tevin Farmer, instead of having Haymon and Floyd buy him belts from the WBA, if he wants to be a PPV fighter.

Not to mention the fight feels more like a means to enhance a resume cuz while all us hardcores know Yuri is washed this is a name casuals & sports fans with half an eye on boxing most of the time know so it has big value with that bigger audience Tank is trying to become more known among.

Why are you people acting like this isnt Davis's toughest opponent to date?

Not only that but Davis is jumping up a weight class.

because gamboa is completely and utterly shot? because i saw castellanos destroy him and sosa dominate him. oh wait he knocked out roman martinez who is also finished. also gamboa is not really a 135 fighter either. hes had a couple fights there.

and if it is his toughest opponent that says a lot about him cause a guy like lopez is fighting a top contender in commey and lopez is much younger than davis.

Remarkable historical achievement in American boxing. A black run company like PBC, featuring black boxers in the main event, promoted by a black owned promotional company in Mayweather promotions, and what is perceived as a black city with a strong black economic elite.....I can see the cultural significance. The only thing missing is to do it ok Juneteenth, MLK weekend, or Malcom X’s birthday. Congratulations black Americans.....as my people have learned, no ones going to do it for you, a feared group must do for itself.

He's going for a third title in his third weight class and has very little to show for it. He's going the Wilder route and waiting til he's in his mid 30s to start fighting guys on his level.

Well thats the thing, Gamboa isnt a tough opponent. This isnt 2009 anymore.

                      He's Chinny and Shot.
