Errol Spence Jr vs Shawn Porter Sells 13k Tickets, $2.3M Live Gate

Crawford is the one that should have embraced that persona as he is legitimately a mean dude. Could have sold it well too.Comment

Wilder vs Fury was bigger than this fight obviously.
Wilder/Ortiz I did about 1.6M at the gate.
Crawford vs Khan did 1.5M at the gate.
Lomachenko vs Linares did 1.25M at the gate.
Now, NYSAC doesn't always give this type of information and I think if a certain amount of tickets are sold, there is only a maximum of sales tax a promoter pays on certain cards. This is me completely guessing but for Joshua/Ruiz and a few other cards, they didn't give any of this information, just the gross receipts from the live broadcasting and then sales tax off not.
Basically, the maximum sales tax you can pay is $100k.Comment

that's good but if the next opponent will punch the fake teeth out of Spence, no more PPVs for himComment

It's a pretty good haul for two guys earning just $2M each and a small percentage of PPV. Did those final PPV numbers ever get posted? Something tells me it didn't break 300K otherwise we would have read all about it. Rumors were anywhere between 275 - 350K.Comment

What kind of numbers are you looking for? Official numbers weren't released for Spence/Garcia either.
275-300k sounds about right.Comment

Isn't that what was reported? $2M each plus a percentage of PPV.

As expected the originally announced attendance was greatly inflated. This gate is comparable to a very low end UFC PPV. That midget TJ Dillashaw did better numbers than this at Staples Center.
GGG with his two PPV flops also managed to do $3.5 million gate against Jacobs and $2 million against Lemieux. It's highly unlikely that with these kinds of numbers Spence-Porter got the 350k buys Mike Coppinger had claimed. The true number of buys is probably somewhere between the Arum number and the BoxingScene number.Last edited by Bob Haymon; 10-25-2019, 04:41 PM.Comment

Not necessarily. On some UK cards I bet it goes higher than this, ala Joshua. But overall I bet most are decently priced. The problem is no one can get the REAL numbers to their cards. UK is VERY secretive in everything and none of their reporters get these types of reports or even PPV numbers.Comment
