I didn't imply that Donaire was dominating; I just wrote that he would have knocked Burnett out. Nonito is a kind soul, perhaps that's why he said those words after seeing Ryan in distress (and in any case I don't remember him saying that).

"Really sad" is the best way to put this. The kid wins two world titles and then loses them and his undefeated record on a fluke. Maybe Donaire would have beat him anyways, but there was nothing to suggest either would win by what we saw in 3+rds. Back injury's can be tricky, but im still pretty surprised it was a career ender. Feel real bad for this kid.

I think he’d have beaten Donaire, I was at the fight and I’m a big Nonito fan but Ryan was outboxing him early on. Donaire couldn’t handle his speed and was being countered.

Just a shame he’ll never get to fulfil his potential, he was essentially 1/2 fights away from legacy defining fights against Inoue, Tete etc.

I think something must be said about Adam Booth’s regime, that’s Haye, Groves and now Burnett who’ve have suffered serious shoulder/back injuries. I think Booth’s a really good trainer but he’s renowned for strange and physically demanding training techniques and they seem to correlate with shortened careers.

I'll have to re-watch the fight, because I remember instead Donaire tagging Burnett several times, and that's why I was left with the impression of a Donaire win had the fight gone on.

Good point about Booth. The fighters you mention had their limbs going everywhere at one moment or another.
