All they had to do was give Nelo/Loma an exception to fight whatever champ they want,but the min they aren't facing another champ they would be required to fight Charlo/Haney respectively. Everyone wins in that situation,but instead wbc as usual picks & chooses when to break their rules or not. Fuck the WBC. This Franchise Champion thing is just a way for fighters to avoid facing high risk opponents.
First Canelo uses the designation to avoid having to fight Jermall Charlo. And now Lomachenko uses the designation to avoid having to fight Devin Haney.

Im referring to when ggg made nelo vacate by forcing a purse bid during his trial. Ggg was demanding half but claimed hed accept no less than 45% & forced the purse bid because the wbc rules dictate that the interim champ gets 45% split.

Sad affair for the young man and the WBC should be ashamed of themselves.
I honestly didn't see him getting a shot at Loma this early in his career, but a vacant title fight should've been set up for him and whomever the #2 or #3 contender is.

It never even progressed as far as GGG demanding ish, man or the WBC making a call on what the split would be. People were speculating that that might happen and blaming GGG for Canelo vacating on it although Loeffler recognised that Canelo would get the 'Lion's share'. In the event though Canelo simply vacated before negotiations even really got started with Oscar citing Canelo's legal issues as the reason. Canelo did say he wouldn't be forced into anything, with the kinda tacit suggestion that GGG had too much leverage, but it was never explicitly stated nor were any figures given AFAIR.Im referring to when ggg made nelo vacate by forcing a purse bid during his trial. If you can find me any official or officialish source which says Golovkin demanded 45% back in '16 I'll happily admit I'm wrong but I'm pretty damn sure that ain't how it went down.
EDIT: Incidentally the WBCs rules on purse splits might be pertinent here:
.16 Division of Proceeds in a Purse Offer.
The net purse offer (after deduction of all sanction
fees payable to the WBC hereunder) shall be divided as follows:
(a) first, 10% of the total shall be set aside as a bonus for the winner of the contest,
then, of the remainder,
(b) 70% of the remaining 90% shall be for the champion and 30% of the remaining
90% shall be for the challenger in title bouts; and
(c) 50% of the remaining 90% to each contender in the case of vacant titles
or elimination bouts;
provided, however, that the WBC Board of Governors, may by a majority vote, authorize a
modification of the division of purse offer proceeds between boxers in a purse offer in
particular cases, such as consideration of outstanding marketing value of one of the boxers,
as the WBC shall determine in its sole discretion. The modification of the split of the
remainder shall be limited to 60-40% and 55-45%, except in the most exceptional
