You can't take these barely-past prospect level fighters like haney, and not too long ago lopez, who are calling out loma or the number 1 guy in their division. It's a good strategy to get attention but these call outs without any significant accomplishment to support it doesn't really mean much so normally you won't get a response from the number 1 guy.

Besides, if you don't get the number 1 guy, then go for #2 or #3 in the rankings...or anyone in the top 10. This kid haney went from calling out the number 1 guy to fighting someone out of the top 20 ffs

When will Haney step up and fight anyone of note, anyone?
He will take a step up in comp when the champion gets the courage to defend against him. It is a false narrative to claim Haney has to take a step up in comp to prove he is worthy or ready for a title shot. He has already earned that shot by way of winning the eliminator when he beat Abdullalev.

Hard to take a step down with the low level of competition he has been facing.

Loma is choosing to fight the best fighters the fights the fans want to see.

Not sure why he would need extra courage to take an easier fight?

Haney should fight Luke Campbell, don't think he would win that one.

But my guess is Haney will continue to fight low level opposition all next year as well.

Talk is cheap, actions speak volumes.

No one said anything about Loma. The point is you were dead wrong when saying Haney had to earn the fight, he already has.

Haney doesn't need to fight guys Loma already fought because he beat Abdullalev in the eliminator. When Loma won his "eliminator" against Ramirez in his 1st fight he got to fight Salido next for the title. I don't recall you suggesting Loma had to "earn" the fight through beating more FW's. I don't think it right that you have different standards for Haney than you do Loma.

If actions speak volumes, make the fight with Haney rather than wait for the Lopez/Comney winner.

Haney is the mandatory. All he is doing is calling for the title shot that is rightfully his.

For the life of me I don't get why some of you guys don't want to see good fights.

Well I guess you and Haney can cry about it then.
Loma's legacy waits for no man.
Ha has made history, he will make history and make history again.

Haney taking the wise choice by staying quiet, he knows he will be safe and when Loma goes back down he will go for a vacant title

who told you i don't want to see it? what i couldn't take seriously is haney went from calling out the number 1 guy to fighting someone out of the top 20.

and loma has 3 belts so he has probably 3 mandatories too.

I figured you's avoid that middle paragraph. Loma has benefited from being backed by a powerful promoter who can not only maneuver him around guys like Berchelt at 130 and Haney at 135, but can get him title shots. Gives him a chance to make history that other guys can't. Must be nice.

Haney isn't staying quiet. He is asking Loma for the same opportunity Salido gave Loma. Sadly, Loma isn't that kind of champion. Shame because he is a very good boxer.

His powerful promoter did not beat all those world champions, did not win 5 world titles, did not become a world champion in 3 fights, did not make history by becoming a two weight world champ in 7 fights or 3 weight world champion in 13 fights.

Berchelt can get it, he has actually done something in the sport. Let me know when Haney has done something.

And Top Rank wanted Haney, I wonder why he chose not to have a powerful promoter backing him?

Again, Haney chose to fight someone else, and is only talking once it is safe.

Boxing fans want to see the best fights, but true to form you prove you are no boxing fan.

Look at the comments- they want to see Loma win all 4 belts more than they want to see a good style matchup.

Haney is taller, as fast, more athletic and has a 4-5 in reach advantage.

Not saying he'd beat Loma but if you had to create a fighter on Fight Night to give you the best chance against Loma, Haney has the attributes you'd choose.
