Beterbiev vs. Gvozdyk on ESPN draws 635K viewers

This is horrible considering their lead in was the 5th most watched program of the night. And ESPN 2 is the smaller channel and got more viewers. Something just isn't connecting with Top Rank boxing on ESPN

ESPN 2 is the smaller channel and got more viewers. This is why I don't but that excuse Top Rank can't get as many viewers as Fox. I bet Crawford does with his next fight.

It was playing at the pool hall I was at. No one was watching it, myself included after about a round.

Nothing wrong with the matchup, I just don't know or care about those guys personally.

That sucks because on paper that was ESPN's best matchup of the year.

              Yep, fantastic match up.

Sucks that the ratings were worse for this fight than Gvozdyk's last fight which was a complete mismatch.

Oh well, very good fight for those that got to watch it.

Damn shame, man cos as a boxing fan this one was a treat... high level unification between two unbeaten top level guys. What do you reckon they should be doing better?

                EDIT: https://www.boxingscene.com/beterbie...n-espn--143563

Ah. Nevermind... scheduling snafu looks like it was substantially to blame and Russia vs Ukraine is probably never gonna be the biggest draw in the US anyway.

Portions of the 114-minute live telecast ran head-to-head with the back end of FS1’s live coverage and post-game wrap of Game 5 of the Major League Baseball American League championship series between the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees, which topped the sports night with more than 5.6 million viewers watching the Yankees extend the series one more night.
Also not at all helping the broadcast was the delayed start time on ESPN’s linear network. The show was due to begin at 10:00pm ET, but had to spill over to sister outlet ESPNews due to live coverage of a college football game between Pittsburgh and Syracuse running long.

They got the Football lead in. It peaked at the beginning of the broadcast.

Considering that they are both very highly touted, undefeated LHW champs and this was a unification, it really discredits your status as a hardcore boxing fan, if you even consider yourself one.

It happened to fall onto my wedding weekend but even then, I don't have cable and I feel like ESPN 2 is in much fewer households these days.

Was hoping it would have been on ESPN+, I might have been able to catch some of it or at least watch a replay of it.
