I think from a statistical stand point, boxing isn't in a bad place compared to other dangerous sports. However it's the context and intent of the sport that people rally against. I suppose it's one thing to play a dangerous sport, it's another to play a sport where the most rewarding outcome is to render your opponent unconscious.

I can't really explain how much respect I have for boxers who step into the ring to fight but it is their choice and if that's how they choose to spend their time on this earth - who are we to stop them. From a fans perspective, let's just try to ensure they make as much money as possible while they do it.

People can rationalize all they want. But the fact of the matter is that 13 deaths per year is way too many. If you look at soccer worldwide, there isn't even that many deaths on the field in a year. Hate to say it but there is going to be some serious adjustments to boxing and it won't be to anyone's liking.

People gon die. Thats why every fighter pro or AM should be shown respect for stepping into that ring. They can water down the sport like NBA/NFL and people will still die.

That's why Peter McNeeley is my favorite fighter of all time. Not for his skills, but for his massive nuts for getting in the ring with a Tyson that had just been released from prison and was looking to take out his pent-up frustrations on someone. But Peter didn't care. He charged right at him knowing that his efforts were going to be minimal, but that's not the point. His massive heart is what Tyson could not take away.

How in the fûçk is mountaineering considered a sport?

That’s some Edomite crazy curiosity crap! Leave nature alone man smh

Anyways, nothing will change unless a cash cow of boxing gets killed in the ring, someone who brings a lot of attention and money to the sport unfortunately!

We are rarely preventive species but moreso reactionary!

I think we need same day weigh in’s and harsher penalties on PED usage!

Bad news as always for our sport. The men and women that choose to put their lives on the line, every time they step in the ring, need a coop or insurance for health and their families. This shlt is real.
RIP to all who have passed.
Good info on stats. Wonder what MMA will end up doing in the future? It was branded off boxing. Don’t watch it but wonder.

so, boxing should be as safe as soccer... which is a non-contact sport?

                      that shlt was real dangerous
