Overrated Boxers

Who’s been overrated ?

And no, Mayweather and Pacquiao are not overrated so don’t go into that BS. They’re the two most dominant record breaking boxers of the past 15-20 years.


I’d say Spence and Crawford are quite overrated.
Spence just went life and death with Porter, and nobody talks about Porter as they do on this forum about Spence. Matter of fact Porter lost to Thurman but arguably beat Spence, so in boxing math Thurman could probably beat Spence. And Manny beat Thurman so he’s greater than both.
And Crawford has no resume.

I’m big fan of Canelo and he’s quite good, but still lacks a stellar resume for an “elite” boxer. Jacobs and GGG 2 were good wins though.

I think Wilder is overrated. Waiting for him to slip and get his big mouth shut.

Spence is overrated. Crawford maybe. He's actually held his own/improved as he's moved up in weight. Obviously he has Fan Boys, but most unbiased Boxing fans are pretty honest about him: great offense, porous defense, subpar competition.

Wilder is incredibly dangerous. He's like a Heavyweight Julian Jackson with a chin. Ray Robinson fought a lot of fighters, none had him in trouble like Artie Levine. (Levine, is also credited for giving Doyle the beatdown that led to his fateful loss to Robinson).
While there's a lot wrong with Wilder, no Boxer in history could have come so close to finishing Fury as Wilder did. Not even Vitali.

Canelo loss that rematch. And I would consider that Golovkin's best win, if not his best performance.

I agree with the people who say that Canelo is over-rated. But, to be fair, he isn't over-rated by too much.

People putting him at #1 P4P obviously don't know anything about boxing. But he is definitely top 10, hovering near the top 5.

I think dillian whyte is a little overated. I think he's got a great boxing brain but i don't really feel like he's quite as good as the record he has. I know that's counterintuitive, since he has the record I just feel like he's dodged a few car crash results and i'm curious to see how his career unfolds going forward.

As a side note, I think his attitude is absolutely stellar and I love his take all comer's approach.
