Comments Thread For: Beterbiev: This Is The Fight I Wanted When I Signed With Top Rank

Artur Beterbiev was specific in his terms prior to his most recent ring appearance-deliver a big fight for the next outing. "Bob Arum kept his word," the unbeaten 34-year old from Montreal, Canada by way of Russia said to BoxingScene.com of the Hall of Fame promoter lining up this weekend's title unification bout versus Ukraine's Oleksandr Gvozdyk (17-0, 14KOs). "It's a big fight, the fight that I really wanted when I signed (with Top Rank). I'm very (pleased) it's happening."

People forget that, without headgear, Beterbiev would have stopped Usyk at the CW, doe!!!

That was "then"... Beterbiev was ranked #1 in the World that year and Usyk wasn't even in the top 10... Usyk won only because of the Amateur type scoring and Beterbiev did indeed the most damage...

On the OP... Arum did what GYM was never able to do... Finding a way to go "with" Beterbiev instead of trying to impose him their structure... They obviously didn't know how to handle his career...

As you could notice at the weigh-in Artur is rather pleasantly constituted Body wise... And he comes "muscular heavy" on fight night, which shows his stellar shape... He was close to 190 against Kalajdzic as I recall... I'm sure he could still do some damage at CW...

... bottom line: I still maintain that Beterbiev is winning vs Gvozdyk...

Tonight we will find out the truth. Many believe Beterbiev to be the best LHW and tonight will show if that statement has any truth in it. I personally believe Beterbiev is easily the best in the division.

Hopefully this will be a good fight. Hard one to call, althoughI didn't know about beterbievs amateur win over the nail, however that is some time ago.
