Should move championship bouts back to 15 rounds...would get more KOs and decisive wins I think

It’s the nature of the beast unfortunately. Tragedies like these don’t happen often but will ostensibly always happen at some point.
Yes it is.(nature)And every one knows the risk and some are compensated very well for that risk. The one thing that has always bothered me is the difference in compensation for smaller or lesser known fighters. Now of course it will always be that way and there should be a difference, but it would be nice to see a minimum salary for journeymen and others. Of course this is just a pipe dream with the way boxing is run. One last thing I would like to point out is boxing really does save more lives then it hurts. Even for someone like me who was just a middling amateur it very well may have saved my life and deff made it better. It taught me a lot about people and also self discipline which as a kid I was very much in need of. Also people do all kinds of risky things like car racing, mountain climbing, sky diving ect and none of those things imo give you all the benefits that boxing can give to a young man.

It will NEVER happen. With the way things are going your much more likely to see 10rds or 2min rds. I really hope that's not the case, but imo its MUCH MORE likely. The funny thing about the old 15rd distance is that most people think it was the Mancini v Kim bout that changed it. When in reality it was the TV networks that REALLY pushed it because a 12rd bout fits into a hour time slot better. Some used the Mancini fight as the reason, but it was the networks that at the time were boxings lifeblood that had the juice to push for change.

Completely agree. I grew up in a pretty rough area, I’ve literally seen boxing amongst other sports save lives.

I’d love to see some sort of pension scheme, were a percentage of a fighter’s purse is taxed the same way in order to give them a sustainable pension. Not sure how scaleable that idea really is though as many boxers don’t earn enough to make any sort of contribution to a pension.

A second idea I have is boxer’s health/life should be insured with a health/life insurance policies by the promoters who are profiteering from their services. Unfortunately I don’t see anything like this happening anytime soon.

Yea I don't see a heath insurance just because it would kill all the small cards. Your idea about a pension is a VERY GOOD idea, and I think it could work. It would have to have a set amount of a purse to work, but I think that could be done. You could set it at something like 1 mil or more, and everybody making that amount could get "taxed" a certain percentage. The % could have a sliding scale for guys making 10,20mil ect a fight. That's a GREAT idea. Who you got tonight? I think the "nail" will take it by dec or late stoppage with maybe having to get up from a KD. This will be the 1st of two weekends with REALLY tough picks.

I’m picking Gvodzyk by decision. Not a confident pick whatsoever though. Fantastic 50/50 fight, really looking forward to it.

How do death numbers in boxing compare with other sports though. In my part of the world horse riding deaths are significant but escape attention because horse riding is not con****uously dangerous.
