Golovkin/Derevyanchenko:Once and for all: Did Harvey Dock SAVE Golovkin?

Here it is, the key moment, slightly slowed down (by the creator of the video. I'm just resharing it here).

Let's vote. Was Golovkin in danger in Round 5?

(And drop/loss means a loss due to getting dropped in the fight as we saw with Porter and others)

YES - Harvey MF'n Dock saved him from his first drop/loss

I don't think Harvey stopped the action on purpose. I think he saw something he might have thought was a foul. But yes Derevyanchenko did hurt GGG with that body shot. I don't think GGG would have fell, but he was hurt.

Harvey also messed up big time at the end of the 10th. GGG landed a 4 piece combo flush on Dervy's face, stunned him bad, and was about to follow up with another crazy combo, potentially knocking Dervy down or out, but Harvey called the bell a few seconds before the bell actually rang. That was also a very bad call.

These 2 sequences cancel each other out as each fighter go his so called 'save'. So that's that.

I completely agree with that last sentence.

No more than he saved Derev in the 10th. The 5th round just looked he got surprised by Golovkin backing into him. The 10th I think he thought he heard the bell or something. It would be a real stretch to say either had any effect on the fight.

It's unfortunate, because the body shot was a beautiful one. Had Golovkin not reacted like Keef did against Manny, it wouldn't have been so bad.

Honestly, I did not expect the poll to be that close. More evidence that it was truly a CLOSE fight that could have gone either way.
