Sad to hear. Unfortunately a lot of holier-than-thou people outside of boxing will try and make his death an anti-boxing agenda which is clearly antithetical to Day's love of boxing.

I wonder if more boxers are dying, or more boxing deaths are now being reported? Because there has been a spike in boxing deaths if nothing has changed in the reporting of them. That’s very concerning. Out of any professional sport in the US, it has to be the most dangerous one right now. The major US athletic commissions, as well as the major sanctioning bodies, will have to get together to figure out what are they going to do about this.
Until state commissions and sanctioning bodies stop allowing boxers to dehydrate themselves to make weight this will unfortunately continue to be the outcome. All sanctioning bodies should allow only a 5% increase in weight on fight night from the day of weigh in. This will force boxers to fight at their natural weight. Repeated cycles of dehydration then rehydration to ridiculous weights is killing boxers. The body was not made for this continued abuse. Dehydrating the body places your brain and organs in critical danger. Repeated actions only increase that risk.

I feel for this guy and his family
