  • Comments Thread For: Gvozdyk: Maybe Beterbiev Underestimated Callum Johnson

The most obvious evidence of Artur Beterbiev being beatable occurred a year ago in Chicago. Callum Johnson, knocked down by Beterbiev in the first round of their fight for Beterbiev's IBF light heavyweight title, dropped the rugged Russian knockout artist in the second round. England's Johnson landed a left hook that stunned Beterbiev, but the champion managed to get up and survived the most problematic moment of his six-year pro career.

Bivol vs Callum would be a good fight. I guess Hearn is trying to protect Bivols 0 in hopes of a unification.

They just tried to make that fight but Johnson was injured.

I'm surprised Gvozdyk didn't also take himself as an example for underestimating Karpency...

Gvozdyk don’t sound to sure of himself and with good doubt
Gvozdyk has an idea of Beterbiev’s power , being already knocked out by him
          Beterbiev will maul him

            Beterbiev VS Johnson recap

Probably not a good way to box Beterbiev how Johnson approached it. Gvozdyk will not be boxing Beterbiev like that.

But remembering the fight, I didn't like the 1st knockdown. Beterbiev punched through the ropes. Probably legal, but Johnson didn't expect that.

The 2nd knockdown Beterbiev's punch landed very high on top of Johnson's head.

For me it took something away from the win...

Beterbeiv doesn't have the Ring IQ or footwork to outpoint or put a beating on Gvozdyk. Late TKO or points victory for Gvozdyk

because they were legal punches that you didn't like?
