    Floyd=The Greatest of All Time?

On the "Quite Frankly" previews they said that Floyd considered himself as that and I wanted to know your thoughts.

I remember before the Gatti fight that Floyd was saying that and I thought it sounded very ****y as we all know that Floyd was going through a extremely ****y period at the time. He put his 2 arms up in the air like Ali and he said that Ali was great but Im the greatest.

However, then he started to explain it and I actually agreed with him. Look, we all know that Floyd has a ways to go before he is recognized as the greatest and in all actuality Floyd will never get there because he is hated on so much that he could be Vitaly and no one would still give him much credit.

What he said was that he's not in this game to be good, great, or the best right now but he's in it to be the best ever. He said that everyone thinks your ****y when you say something like that but he believes that everyone should try to be the best of all time at what they do. He said he doesnt know why people get upset when you say that and if you dont believe that then what are you in the game for?

He said are you in it to just be good or finish 2nd? He said he wasnt afraid to put himself out there and reach for the highest goals. He said that if you work at McDonalds then you should try to be the best cook ever, if your a car salesman then you should try to be the best ever. He said that alot of athletes are afraid to say that but he's not.

He said that MJ wanted to be the best ever and look at him.

If you think about it, others have said similar things. Ray Lewis said he wanted to go down as the best ever. Floyd said that he has beat alot of top guys and guys who were champs or have gone on to be champs and he said by the time he finishes his career then he should be recognized as the greatest ever because he was one of the few greats who was good at everything, fought in many divisions, and will have beaten top comp

Look there is no doubt that Floyd has tremendous skills and has beaten some good competition but he is nowhere near the best of all time. I respect the fact that he wants to strive to be the best, but I wish he would practice what he preaches. There are few great fighters in any era, and if you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best. The only possible elite fighters you can say Floyd has beaten are Castillo and Corrales and they are not going down as anybody's best of all time. DLH and Mosley will not be elite in my mind because they are both out of their prime... I will consider it like I consider DLH's victories over JCC and Whitaker... a right of passage more than a great victory. If Floyd wants to be considered the best he has got to fight Margarito so nobody can say he ducked a dangerous fighter and he has got to beat Winky Wright which I think would be a very tough proposition especially at 154. Look at a guy that has similar skills to Floyd like a Sugar Ray Leonard. He beat the two best fighters of his era in classic battles... Hagler and Hearns. People would tell you that those were dangerous fights for him, but he took them and won. Not to mention his other good wins are probably on par with Floyd's best wins to date. Floyd has the possibility to go down in history as ONE OF THE GREATEST as I think its impossible to be the greatest (that will always be reserved for Sugar Ray Robinson for me), its all up to Floyd to make the right moves from here on out. I like Floyd and I wish him luck in his journey.

Floyd won't be the greatest of all time until he starts fighting good fighters.

He's in his prime, how can he say he's the greatest when his last top 10 p4p fight was against Castillo, 3-4 years ago?

If he retired now, he reaches my top 10 P4P of all time.

As will Roy Jones Jr. (who IMO has accomplished more)

But if he manages to unify welterweight, beating all the top opponents, he will be alot higher in everybodys books.

I've said it time and time again. This should be Floyd's schedule...

              1) Carlos Baldomir (147)
              2) Cory Spinks (154)
              3) Shane Mosley (147 or 154)
              4) Oscar De La Hoya (154)
              5) Ricky Hatton (147)
              6) The middleweight champ (160)
              7) Retire undefeated

Easily the greatest fighter of all time. I don't think it would even be debatable if he accomplished that laundry list. He would have been the man at 147 and 154 and 160.
