Usyk looked slow and unimpressive, no match for top Heavyweights

He kinda suffers for what Leonard experienced when he fought Hagler. Here are most of the excuses:
- hagler was old
- hagler wasn't prepared for a boxer/that kind of fight
- ray ran like a b i t c h
- ray had all the ridiculous rules fashioned to his advantage
- the judges were bought
- hagler was ****y and gave away rounds
- hagler was ****y and fought ray's fight.
- hagler would have won the rematch.
There may be truth to all of that, but basically a celebrity pretty boy boxer moved up in weight and won. But not as convincingly as we've become accustomed to. So it leaves room for criticism. You can't shut up the critics completely, but they are forced to look for angles. Like a fat chick posting on Tinder.
Usyk was steadily improving as Cruiserweight, and off to a precocious start. While he didn't falter, he didn't have the sterling performance typical of his previous bouts.
I wouldn't mind seeing him return to Cruiserweight. But I don't think his heavyweight career is doomed. I just can't imagine him every being champ. Definitely not while Fury is active. That dude could have one of his legs sawed off, and still win every round against Usyk.Comment

Look, I like Usyk, He is without a doubt the best CW in the world, but I think the HW division is a far superior one than the CW division. Also, so many people have said over the past year that Usyk has much more skill than Tyson Fury. I have seen Usyk's last 10 fights and I am not seeing this at all. I think Fury has far more skill - jabs, combinations, body work, inside work are all outstanding. Usyk is more about work rate and going through gears than skill. I think Usyk ranks between 5-10 at HW.Comment

Fight was also pretty boring and I actually fell asleep through some of the rounds due to how much it lacked entertainment. The fact that the opposition was weak didn’t help either, I heard Chris Mannix say that Whitherspoon was a used cars salesman and that he got the call to fight Usyk when he was at a junkyard rummaging through car parts. Usyk gets exposed once he steps up against a better, in-shape heavyweight
fell asleep because of pounding down Big Mac's ?
Don't get me wrong, I am gonna feel bad about busting my load in your weave tomorrow. But today it's just too funny.
1) you have never competed in any combat sports.
2) no one who competes ever enters a fight in perfect shape - something is always wrong. Wrestlers, ya know, have school every day.
3) working a day job is pretty much customary of any pro-fighter who hasn't "made it". It really is about getting proper attention while training, and time to recover. Working outside the gym isn't inherently harmful. Especially when it's not physically demanding.
4) Witherspoon was fighting the fight of his life. usyk was fighting a feel-out fight.Comment

Usyk is more complete/versatile fighter. He has a much better pedigree. He has a FAAAAAR superior trainer.
But in terms of skill, Fury is the better man. Being bigger makes it harder for him to move, and yet he's more fluid and defensively adroit.
Does anyone say Arguello was more skilled than Benitez or Kalambay? In Tyson's case, he has their skill and the toughness that even Arguello lacked.Comment

He needs at least 2 more tests!
Hearns is desperate to keep PBC from unifying the heavyweight division which is why he’s trying to break up the belts!
Would like to see Usyk vs Takam now or Usyk vs Christian Hammer!Comment

Even Witherspoon pointed that out in a post interview.Comment

He'll do it down the line. Joshua will vacate the WBO, if he wins, so Usyk will win it, both will defend their respective titles a couple of times (the IBF will force Pulev's shot, for a start) then Eddie will do a MASSIVE UNIFICATION at Wembley, despite the fact that it was him that split the titles in the first place.Comment
